About this deal

The 12-32mm kit lens is a decent optic to get you started with - especially if you’re a beginner. It’s capable of producing some nice images. If you’re after the really shallow depth of field effect, you may want to consider purchasing a pancake prime lens for this camera - there’s plenty of prime lenses to choose from for Micro Four Thirds, but some of the larger lenses may leave the Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800 feeling a little unbalanced and unwieldy.

Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 5 minutes with [MP4] in [4K] and [4K PHOTO]. When the ambient temperature is high or continuous recording is performed, the camera may stop the recording to protect itself. Wait until the camera cools down. Calling it a handgrip is something of a misnomer, though, in that it only really accomodates two or three fingers of your right hand. There are 9 ISO settings available on the Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800. Here are some 100% crops which show the noise levels for each ISO setting, with JPEG on the left and RAW on the right. The 16.0-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor without low-pass filter and Venus Engine combine to achieve crisp, high-resolution images in fine detail with high-contrast, impressive colour reproduction and max. ISO 25600 high sensitivity. The Contrast AF System features DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology and excels in both speed and accuracy by exchanging digital signals between the camera and the lens at a max. 240 fps*1, resulting in ultra-fast auto focusing of approx. 0.07 sec*2.

The built-in Wi-Fi connectivity lets you remotely control the camera using the Panasonic Image App on a smartphone or tablet, and is available for iOS and Android devices. There are a large number of options and settings that can be accessed and changed, making the app extremely useful, there are also time-lapse options, and you can view and share images, as well as tag photos with GPS information. Above left: Retro effect, above right: Old effect. The Lumix GX800 / GX850 offers a wealth of effects, some subtle, some not so subtle. Here’s of six of them for your delectation.

Panasonic Lumix GX880, GF10, GF90 Specifications

Recording stops when the continuous recording time exceeds 5 minutes with [MP4] in [4K] More impressive selfies with advanced Self Shot modes In fact, other than the smattering of improvements that have been made to the camera's already impressive range of selfie modes, designed principally for the Asian market, there's very little to reason to consider the Panasonic GX880 instead of the GX800, unless the pricing is the same or very similar. Above: Here’s two more examples shot with the Dynamic Mono effect which I found delivered a very pleasing high-contrast monochrome style with no effort. The Contrast AF achieves high-speed, high-precision focusing with digital signal communication at max. 240 fps. Furthermore, the DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels while consulting the data for the optical characteristics of the current lens in a moment. As a result, the LUMIX GX880 achieves an ultra-high-speed AF of approx.0.07 sec. A multi-processing capability achieves high speed burst shooting at 5.8 fps (AFS) / 5 fps (AFC) to capture fast-moving subjects in crisp focus. For advanced users, the LUMIX GX880 is capable of developing RAW images inside the camera. In addition to the colour space setting (sRGB/ AdobeRGB), the parameters for white balance, exposure compensation, contrast, highlight/shadow, saturation, noise reduction, and sharpness can be flexibly adjusted and LUMIX’s Photo Style, Intelligent D-range Control, and Intelligent Resolution can also be applied. Silent Mode Overall, the GX800 is a great little offering from Panasonic. It comes at the same time as the full specifications for the GH5 have been announced - completely at the other end of the scale in terms of intended consumers, so it’s pleasing to see the company giving attention to a wide spectrum of intended users. Most users of this camera will leave it in JPEG mode and be totally satisfied (there are 7 JPEG Picture Profiles you can choose from and 22 Creative Filter effects). However to get the most out of the GX850, we recommend shooting Raw. The above image was processed through Adobe Camera Raw and 'pops' significantly more than the out of camera JPEG(shot in 'Standard' profile). In general, we found default JPEG color can be a tad washed out and skin tones can also occasionally look a little off.
