About this deal

I think that it is a combination of the two. She already felt so much guilt about her decisions that she found them difficult to discuss. Learning that Leo was adopted and his reaction to being adopted made it even harder to tell him the truth since... - robynn The problems I had while reading were that I really didn't think that Emma's secrets were THAT bad. When Leo finally finds everything out he is as puzzled as the reader. I mean, from a woman's POV I get why she would be hesitant to tell him about her past post-partum issues, but after 20 years married she had so much she was hiding that made little sense. I also did not get Jill and her bizarre behavior. I actually thought the book was going to veer in a totally different direction for a minute there, and I got kind of excited, but that just went nowhere. I have mixed feelings about The Love of my Life. While I loved the premise, love a dual narrative, and love having an author throw around pieces of information that get put together in the second half of a book, I just couldn’t connect to this story as much as I wanted to.

The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh | Waterstones

Combining the gripping pace of a psychological thriller with the tenderness and sorrow of a love story gone wrong, this one’s a winner.” I had a challenging time working out how to end Sarah and Eddie’s story. I experimented with so many endings – deaths, happily ever afters, high dramas. Eventually though, as with every other part of my writing journey, I had to just trust my gut. Q: Was there anything—either about the characters or their journeys—that surprised you while writing? a solid 4 stars, perhaps 4.5. fans of THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME will enjoy this one. i prefer that one over this, though.

Success!

While listening to the female narrator read her passages, however, I frequently had to pinch myself to stay awake. When Sarah meets Eddie, they connect instantly and fall in love. To Sarah, it seems as though her life has finally begun. And it’s mutual: It’s as though Eddie has been waiting for her, too. Sarah has never been so certain of anything. So when Eddie leaves for a long-booked vacation and promises to call from the airport, she has no cause to doubt him. But he doesn’t call. I absolutely loved this book and didn’t want it to end.”–Liane Moriarty, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Big Little Lies

The Love of My Life is my favorite kind of thriller—gripping, heartbreaking and impossible to put down.” This one is a slow-burn with lots of tension and suspense. As we uncovered Emma’s secret, the layers were so well executed and developed that every curve ball and reveal kept me guessing. It isn’t very often that these types of slow-burn thrillers keep my attention and I was hooked until the very last word. Roise did an amazing job with Emma. We knew all Emma's darkest secrets and the reasons for her actions. The other characters were magnificent too, we saw the good, the bad and the ugly of all the characters. I have held you at night for ten years and I didn't even know your name. We have a child together. A dog, a house. Where I struggled a bit was with the tone. Is the novel a slow-burn family drama? Or a domestic thriller? It felt a little like what you’d get if Anne Tyler and Lisa Jewell decided to co-author something. Comparison to either of those two writers is far from a bad thing, but I’m not sure they’d make great collaborators. This family just captured my heart and had me 110% invested in their future as a unit. Walsh did a fabulous job in creating a world filled with laughter - as well as horrendous mental suffering! - that I could disappear into for the duration of this story. And to think, the author was pregnant and/or had a newborn to take care of while she was writing this book. Respect and Applause, Applause, Applause! Gorgeous. Walsh has created such strong characters, and so much warmth. The way she writes about love and longing is just beautiful.” I never really felt connected to any of the characters, and the author tried so hard to build the mystery aspect that instead of being intrigued, I was just annoyed. Three woman who join together to rent a large space along the beach in Los Angeles for their stores—a gift shop, a bakery, and a bookstore—become fast friends as they each experience the highs, and lows, of love.

The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh Summary and reviews of The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh

I am a huge fan of Rosie Walsh’s writing. The Love of My Life is heart-wrenching, beautiful and thought-provoking; it made me cry, smile and hug my own loved ones a little tighter.” Do you think Leo has ever believed Emma loves and needs him every bit as much he loves and needs her? I didn’t much care for Ghosted by this author at all, but then I got it confused with another book with a similar title since I’m an idiot and was all about trying to get an early copy/first dibs at the library for this new release. I’m happy to report I wasn’t disappointed once I finally got my hands on it.Emma seems to have a multitude of secrets, ranging from the trivial to the terrifying. But I wasn’t convinced at all by her reasons to keep so much of her past a secret from Leo. Some of the justifications were valid, I agree. But the rest were just RIDICULOUS! I simply didn’t get her! The rest of the characters, bar Leo, also seem shifty, not leading you to believe any of them. Plus, there’s a deliberate attempt to mislead through the interconnected characters (Don’t get me started on the coincidence of so many random characters being known to each other!) Leo is the only one I found somewhat real in his emotions and the only one I felt somewhat sorry for. Do you agree that Leo's investigation is "spying," as he puts it? Do you believe he's justified in his actions? What would your first thoughts have been if you'd been in his shoes?
