In my listening tests the main thing that stood out to me was the high-frequency balance being off. In some cases it sounded about 1-3dB too low. In a few cases I heard some ‘sizzle’ on instruments that I do not believe are correct (I didn’t make the album; I can’t know for sure). The data tends to agree with that in relation to the rest of the spectrum. There are some hot spots here and there discussed previously.

Are these designed to be listened to with the grilles on or off? I assume off, as most speakers perform worse with the grilles on. Thank you. She wanted a small system that she could use for practice (she inputs the music on the computer and plays it to them while they sing) and then use as monitors when they perform (she has an old powered Yamaha mixer with speakers they aim at the audience when they perform). This speaker has a wall-mountable design, meaning you can have more space on your bookshelf or desk when you mount this speaker on a wall. In addition, it boasts of having a wooden cabinet that is structured accurately to obtain better sound quality. Of course, with that said, sometimes it is just too easy to run the NFS. I have been doing nearly all my testing overnight and let it run all night. Wake up in the morning and it is done. Much better than what I used to do. Ultimately, if you update the firmware for the new EQ settings and stuff the port, you are left with a very capable speaker for reasonable volume levels and a lot of input options. Could this be a perfect option to use in lieu of a soundbar or hi-fi on a budget? I think so. Subjective listening was mainly in the nearfield to midfield, between 1 to 2 meters. Subjective listening was conducted at 80-95dB at these distances. Higher volumes were done simply to test the output capability in case one wants to try to sit further away. It is why you have this review to thank, as it comes with every piece of information that you will need to make a well-informed and wise investment choice. Here’s my desktop setup at my primary rig using the neumi BS5 as the speaker solution. You can see that they fit pretty nicely on a desk. The desk in the shot is 60" wide x 26" deep. If you like to have a slightly brighter response, you can point the speakers more towards the center position. We also tuned the BS5 without a grill. The grill was made afterwards to minimize its effect on the speaker output. It is fairly transparent but does change the response slightly. These speakers exhibit an audible compression when played above about 90dB at a couple meters away. Therefore, they are best used in the near/midfield and not ideal for a large home theater setting, even if you plan to use a subwoofer.You can use this speaker as the main speaker in a compact or limited space, and they guarantee to produce sounds that will fill up all compact spaces. Precise imaging and accurate detailing are all features of this bookshelf speaker, while its enclosure comes with vertical corners for baffling diffraction. Again, any bit is really appreciated. I would love to be able to fund a remote controlled turntable for my measuring. As it is, I walk about 2 miles (literally) between my computer and the DUT to spin it about 150 or so times (ground plane measurement + free-field measurement) at a distance of 40+ feet one-way which adds up. We focus on education, discussion, and sharing of entry and mid level separate & multi component audio systems. Over thinking is why after a year I am not even half way through building my new workshop: Mike builds a workshop Perhaps a simple thumbs up or thumbs down (and maybe a "meh" for in between). I like Amir's panthers, they give it a bit of whimsy, but he still gets the occasional "How can this ..., if this ..." criticism/question!In addition, it comes with precision-crafted cabinets that produce distortion-free and warm sounds. Specifications High level takeaway: the true battle is between the Neumi BS5P and the Micca PB42X. Between those 2 speakers, either would be the right choice of all these options depending on your intended use. I ended up choosing the Neumi because I am going to be playing games quite a bit, and they provided much better low end to fill out a lot of the sound effects. If I were choosing a speaker just for music listening, I would have gone with the Miccas as they have superior mid/high/vocal clarity. The Miccas have a good enough sub that I wouldn't be missing the low end on most music, but if I wanted to, I could just add a sub to fill out the lows on the Miccas (for edm type music). I forget, can the NFS just do an on-axis response? Maybe you could just show if the response changes with stuffing the port without needing to do a full spin, but if you do see a big improvement you can go ahead and try the full spin? It's nice to investigate optimizing a speaker, but it should definitely perform at its best as is. The LED light stays on (I think you can turn it off but who's going to go through the hassle of turning it off and on if you have to hear the stupid car sound at every startup) The grille on case results in an increase in comb filtering (higher amplitude peaks/dips). Leave the grille off.
